Making Traffic Fun with Adaptive Cruise Control and Pilot Assist

There is nothing that a city dweller dreads more than being stuck in traffic. Slowly inching towards a location is mundane - it takes so much time out of the day that could be better spent doing other important things like working on a project, spending more time with loved ones, and eating.

The ACC has 5 different following distances and uses radar sensors to detect when a vehicle in front is traveling slower than the set speed. It automatically adjusts the car’s speed without having to apply the brakes or turn off the cruise control. Once you pass a slower moving vehicle the car will accelerate back to the set speed. An optimal ACC feature will work at speeds ranging from 0-124 mph.

Pilot Assist helps keep the vehicle in its lane by using a camera in conjunction with radar. These are located in the windshield to monitor your car’s position in the lane as well as the vehicle in front of you. So, if your car gets too close to a lane marking, Pilot Assist will gently steer the vehicle back into the lane. Also, if the vehicle crosses a lane marking without using a turn signal, then the steering wheel will vibrate and which could also be accompanied by a warning sound. The Pilot Assist feature works at speeds up to 30 mph and helps in slow moving, stop-and-go traffic.
