Q&A with University Volvo’s Michael Spinks

Michael Spinks is the Vice President of University Volvo, and has been with our company since 1986.  We asked Michael a few questions about the company so our readers could get to know him and University Volvo a little better.

In your opinion, what makes University Volvo stand out among the competition?

University Volvo is a single point dealership focusing solely on Volvo. We have a lot of long-term employees and all of our managers have at least 20 years employment with us, meaning they all know the brand and the company very well and have the expertise to provide top notch customer service and sales.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Having been here for 30 years. I have met a lot of people and made lots of friends through the business. I have seen their families grow and now we are taking care of their children as customers as they begin their families.

In what ways does University Volvo stay involved in or give back to the community?

University Volvo believes in supporting local business and our money stays in the local economy. We sponsor local events to raise awareness of our brand and the charities involved, such as being the Official Pace Car of the Charlotte Criterium for the past 10 years, a cycling race in downtown Charlotte that benefits the Brain Tumor Fund of the Carolinas. We have also been the official vehicle provider to the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce for the past 12 years and we are a sponsor of the Charlotte 49er athletics program.

What is your favorite car on the lot and why?

The All-New XC90 T6 is my favorite car. It was recently named the 2016 Motor Trend SUV of the year and the 2016 North American truck of the year. It continues to bring us new customers that have not looked at Volvo in years.

Thanks for reading! If you are interested in starting the car buying process or want to come see what Michael’s favorite car, the XC90 T6, is all about, stop by University Volvo today and we will be happy to help you!
